In the recent years prior to the pandemic, the rate of self-reported work-related ill health had been mostly flat. The current rate is higher than the 2018/19 pre-coronavirus levels!
Agriculture, forestry and fishing, construction, accommodation and food service activities and wholesale and retail trade (including motor vehicle repair) had significantly higher workplace injury rates compared to the average rate across all industries.
Moving away from injuries, there were 1.8 million workers estimated to have suffered work-related illness with now 914k of these cases relating to stress, anxiety or depression.
