So does this mean that business can now move their focus from this subject? Or does more still need to be done to educate business’ on the importance vigilance?
I think that this would be a foolish and ill-advised move. The ramifications of reduced focus could be disastrous. You just need to ask the people involved in the following for example.
The owners of a nail salon in York being given suspended prison sentences for failing to rectify fire safety failings; a Wolverhampton pub landlord sent to prison for flouting fire safety legislation and a Hounslow landlady receiving £200,000 in fines and costs following a fatal fire at one of her properties.
Health & safety gone mad is a phrase I hear all too often; used to describe what some perceive as restrictions on getting the job done. It never ceases to amaze me that people take this view with appropriately implemented health & safety.
