“The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.”
In 2021, it’s shocking that stigma and prejudice still exists surrounding members of the armed forces and veterans. A lack of understanding about what life serving our country actually entails has led to the biased thinking of so many. Members of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces dedicate themselves to serving and protecting, yet in thanks they’re often met with a lack of opportunity when leaving the armed forces. The Armed Forces Covenant aims to change that.
Signing The Armed Forces Covenant pledge is our way of getting involved and supporting the cause, by making a promise to treat current and potential employees with equality of opportunity, regardless of whether they’ve served in the armed forces or not. We pledge to support veterans in our company by recognising the importance of their involvement in the armed forces community and allowing time off for training and important events.
We recognise the incredible range of skills and experiences that being a veteran can bring, and are continually impressed by the work ethic and commitment of our veteran team members thanking them for further educating us about these important causes.
Associate Director of Fast R Solutions and veteran, Paul Bennett, comments:
“I have been impressed by the level of support afforded me, since working at FastR. They recognise that I have past skills & experiences that can be of benefit. Being a veteran gives me a unique perspective, and the training and mentoring I have been given has allowed me to progress within the company. The company, as a whole, is fiercely supportive of the Armed forces and this has proven to be a bonding experience, allowing me to integrate myself more fully into the team. Others don’t feel like work colleagues they are more like family.”
Any company would benefit from the great attitude to work and skills that veterans are able to bring to a role and would encourage those companies who agree to also sign The Armed Forces Covenant Pledge. We are very proud to say that we hold The Armed Forces Covenants’ bronze award in recognition of our support. Our goal is to work toward the silver and gold award in the future.
Supporting those who selflessly serve is important to us, which is why we have also pledged our ongoing support to The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and have selected Scotty’s Little Soldiers as our nominated charity.

Health & safety gone mad is a phrase I hear all too often; used to describe what some perceive as restrictions on getting the job done. It never ceases to amaze me that people take this view with appropriately implemented health & safety.
